Religious Education is a central part of our school and the community. We are a multi-ethnic school with a Catholic ethos underpinning everything we teach. RE can be seen within our RE lessons but also through our everyday school life. With assemblies, whole school acts of worship, meal times, the beginning and end of the day. There are strong provisions for whole school celebrations regularly throughout the year with the support of our local Parish priest Fr. Jeremy Trood. Each whole school Mass is led by a different year group with children given the opportunity to participate with readings, altar serving and the offertory. Fr Jeremy also holds class prayer services which are held in school with parents welcome to share in the celebration. We teach tolerance and respect for other faiths, races and cultures.
As a school we follow the RE scheme ‘The way, the truth and the life’, which encompasses all the teaching requirements of the curriculum directory from the diocese of Westminster.
As a school we promote the use of creativity within our RE lessons with children learning through role plays, art work and extended pieces of writing. We encourage children to share their thoughts and feelings about God and ensure our lessons are a safe environment for them to develop their understanding of Christ.
