Attendance

Home > Parents > Attendance

At St Aloysius we believe that good attendance at school is important for every young person as it contributes to good learning and progress, prepares them for adulthood and is a prerequisite for social inclusion.

By attending school regularly and on time, it helps our young people to become organised, reliable and to develop a positive work ethos; qualities which are valued by employers.

Our School gates open at 8:45am every morning.   We operate a ‘soft start’ and gates close at 9am.

School finishes at 3:15pm (Lower Site) and 3:20pm (Upper Site).

We maintain an attendance register to accurately record attendance and punctuality and monitor absenteeism and lateness.

Children must only be absent from school if they are ill.

If your child is ill or unable to come into school for another reason,  please telephone the office to let us know the reason for their absence before 9am on each day of absence.  The school’s telephone number is (020) 7387 9591.

Appointments with doctors, dentists or at a hospital should be made outside school hours or in the holidays.  Where this is not possible, a note or an appointment card must be bought into the school office the day beforehand so that the register can be marked accordingly.

If parents and carers do not provide a reason for the absence, the absence remains unauthorised.  If a child has missed a substantial amount of time from school, the Head of School will contact the parents or carers.  The Education Welfare Officer may also contact the family.

It is the school’s aim to work with our families to ensure that students have very good attendance; if there are any issues that may be a barrier to this please contact Mrs McCann, Head of School,  in the first instance.
